Chris wins BII 'Licensee of the Year'

Chris Lewis, Managing Partner of The Lewis Partnership, was celebrating in London last night (Tuesday 18th) as it was announced he had won the BII 'Licensee of the Year' award for the work he has done at popular Stafford town centre venue, The Swan Hotel.

The award was presented to Chris at the prestigious Publican magazine awards at London's Grosvenor House Hotel last night, hosted by comedians Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins.

Chris commented: "This is truly a highlight of my professional career, I pulled my first pint when my parents opened The Moat House in 1988, since then we've strived to outperform the market and almost constantly develop our business. To be recognised for this commitment is a great feeling."

Although a personal award, Chris recognises that he couldn't have done it alone, he continued: "It is my name on the award but this achievement is really for everyone that has helped me get to where I am; especially my family and the teams we have working at the hotels day in, day out. I couldn't have done it on my own and I am really very grateful for their hard work."

Chris was announced as the UK winner following a gruelling selection procedure; which included a written entry, a judge's visit to the hotel and detailed interview in London.

Chris re-opened The Swan Hotel in 2002 following a comprehensive modernisation of the historic former coaching inn. Since the re-launch he has introduced a popular season of outdoor live music events and won national awards for their commitment to Responsible Drinks Retailing.

The Lewis Partnership also owns the four-star Moat House Hotel in Acton Trussell. Earlier this year Chris announced plans to redevelop the garden area of The Swan and to open a fine foods delicatessen in the town.
